Dinesh Vather - Lead New Products, R&D

Meet Dinesh Vather, Lead New Products, R&D.  Dinesh joined Prodieco in April 2019 and brings with him over 15 years extensive experience in the engineering industry.

What is your current role within Prodieco?

I joined the Engineering Department as the Lead for New Product Research and Development. This is a new role within Prodieco, created with the aim to further grow the company and expand its product offering within the pharmaceutical sector. My remit is to setup a new R&D function and expand the current company product offering with best in class solutions for the Pharma industry.

What does a typical day look like for you?

So far my days have been split between trying to gain a better understanding of the issues facing the Pharma industry, working with management to develop the R&D strategy for the company and designing a new product portfolio to launch at Interpack 2020. As the R&D team grows my role will evolve to include strategy, pursuing national and international funding for R&D and keeping up to date with market and technology trends in the industry.

What do you like most about your role so far?

My previous experience is in start-up companies in the Semiconductor, Aerospace and optical security device sectors but I have never worked in the Pharma industry. It has been really interesting getting to know the business and the wider industry. Management have been very supportive in the development of my new role and are very forward thinking in their plans for future R&D activities. It is always exciting setting up a new function and developing new products is extremely rewarding.

What attracted you to applying for a position with Prodieco?

I was in my previous role for 5 years and decided it was time for a change. I had heard positive things about Prodieco and I felt the advertised position was a good match for what I was looking for. In my first interview I was impressed with the state of the art offices and world class manufacturing facilities.

What was your first impression of Prodieco when you joined the company?

Without a doubt the great sense of community. Everyone has been very welcoming and helpful. The culture of constant improvement driven by the employees that is encouraged and supported by internal reward schemes is very motivating. Prodieco as a company is focused on expansion and growth driven from all areas within the business. It is a very dynamic company.

What do you like to do outside of work to help maintain a healthy work life balance?

I have three young children so keeping everything balanced can be challenging. I try to make the most of my commute time by listening to podcasts and audiobooks. I am lucky enough to enjoy the benefit of flexi- time in my role. It allows me to go in early and get home in time to sit down together for a family dinner.

I have a large extended family so my weekends are usually spent catching up on housework and with visiting, either in Dublin or on the Aran Islands. Before the kids I used to do a lot of camping and hillwalking all over Ireland but now we try to go camping as a family a few times over the summer.
