We now have an exciting opportunity for an Applications Lead to join our team.

job description


  • Responsible for applications within manufacturing, reviewing machining strategies and finding optimal ways to reduce process times and set ups
  • Leading projects within manufacturing, and engaging with the different teams, and senior operators to drive improvements.
  • Reviewing design for manufacture to optimise process times.
  • Responsible for optimising manufacturing with an aim to free up labour resources
  • Reducing process times on parts,
  • Reviewing and improving set ups on machines,
  • Reducing number of operations per parts,
  • Increasing run time on machines.
  • Responsible for start-up of new technology in order to get fully operational
  • Ensure run time on machines is to the required levels, downtime is minimal
  •  Reviewing new technology leading to automation
  • Increase utilisation of machines
  • Responsible for the Tool room department including tooling spend, and use of optimal tooling to suit the manufacturing process
  • Reviewing the end to end manufacturing process, including reviewing designs to encourage design for manufacture.
  • reporting weekly / monthly on the applications plan for manufacturing to reduce cost
  • travelling to Manufacturing exhibitions
  • travelling to suppliers to review new technologies.

Requirements: (criteria candidates will be shortlisted against)

  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar role  
  • High level of drive
  • Demonstrable experience of CI and driving improvements
  • Good team player, approachable, and works well with others
  • Resource planning & control
  • Ability to maintain high levels of quality
  • Good collaborator, ability to work well with other departments
  • Capable of working on own initiative and making decisions
  • Ability to listen carefully and assimilate information quickly
  • Ability to remain calm in pressurised circumstances and deal with challenging situations
